As usual, teams dropped their list of waivers, and many surprises stand among them. Patrik Allvin has sent players through waivers down to Abbotsford, but the Canucks have yet to claim their own, and they've now been presented with a golden opportunity.

The Canucks still haven't figured out the right-handed side of Quinn Hughes's partner, and Cole McWard has arguably been the best at this position. It seems unlikely he'll be the long-term solution the Canucks desperately need.

Elliotte Friedman confirmed that from the 29 players sent on waivers yesterday, everybody cleared:

However, today's list features names that are much more intriguing to the Canucks and their needs:

Alec Regula (BOS),
Daniel Renouf (BOS),
Anthony Richard (BOS),
Reilly Walsh (BOS),
Parker Wotherspoon (BOS),
Seth Griffith (EDM),
Erik Kallgren (NJ),
Jared Bernard-Docker (OTT),
Matthew Highmore (OTT),
Jacob Larsson (OTT),
Egor Sokolov (OTT),
Tanner Laczynski (PHI),
Cal Petersen (PHI)

Jacob Bernard-Docker, a Canmore, ALTA. Native is a 23-year-old right-handed shot defenseman. The 26th overall pick from 2018 never found his way to the promising ceiling he had after an excellent three-year stint in the NCAA. Standing at 6' and weighing 190 pounds, he has the size. However, development is lacking, and the Canucks could be the sole benefactors of this one.

The Canucks are on the hunt for a playoff spot, and if they could find a suitor to play by Hughes' right side, it would increase their odds. Could Bernard-Docker be that player?
