In a post on social media, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association announced that Vancouver Canucks prospect Tom Willander has been named to their roster for the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase, which runs from July 26th to August 3rd in Plymouth, Michigan.
Willander, 19, is one of only five players at the Summer Showcase that was on Sweden's silver medal-winning team on home ice at the 2024 World Juniors, joining Melker Thelin (G), Theo Lidstein (D), Otto Stenberg (F), Zeb Forsfjall (F).
Sweden will play five games during the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase, let's take a look at the schedule for Tom Willander and his nation:
- July 28th vs USA Blue (4 pm ET)
- July 29th vs USA White (4 pm ET)
- July 31st vs Canada (TBD)
- August 2nd vs USA (4 pm ET)
- August 3rd vs Finland (1 pm ET)
The Stockholm native had a strong freshman campaign with Boston University, putting up 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) and ten penalty minutes in 38 games. Meanwhile, in seven World Junior games, Willander had three points (one goal, two assists).
