The Vancouver Canucks called up Victor Mancini from AHL Abbotsford on Sunday, and fans may get a chance to finally see a key part of the J.T Miller return in NHL game action.
The Canucks made space on the roster for Mancini's call up by moving Thatcher Demko to injured reserve, the 29 year old's bad luck continues as he's considered week-to-week with a lower body injury.
Per the NHL media site, it looks like the Canucks have recalled Victor Mancini and put Thatcher Demko on IR ahead of tonight's game in Utah - Brendan Batchelor
Mancini has played 5 games with Abbotsford since being acquired and while he's been on the NHL roster, has yet to make his debut with the team.
He has however played 15 games this season with his former club, the New York Rangers, posting a goal and 4 assists.
While it's unclear at this time if Mancini is going to debut, the Canucks are in the second half of a back to back and it makes sense that they may want to get some fresh legs into the lineup, and Mancini was scratched by Abbotsford last night.
With
Quinn Hughes still injured and not expected to play, the Canucks only have 6 other healthy defensemen on the roster along with Mancini
Those that have watched the 22 year old since coming to the Canucks have been impressed with his play.
Victor Mancini gets the call for Vancouver, which explains his absence from Abbotsford's game last night.
He's been good for Abby. Great skater, huge frame with a solid box out and nasty streak and a decent outlet.
Vancouver take son Utah at 5 PM PST.
