Amid the dramatic narrative regarding J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson coming into this highly anticipated reunion with the New York Rangers, a different form of fireworks has taken place as Vancouver Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood has just made NHL history.
Out of all the moves Patrik Allvin made on July 1st this past offseason to upgrade the Canucks roster, the signing of Kiefer Sherwood is looking like one of, if not the best decision so far.
Kiefer Sherwood Breaks NHL Record for Most Hits in a Single Season
The record was bound to be broken this game against the Rangers as he only needed to secure one more body check to break the record.
Early in the first period in Madison Square Garden, Sherwood secured his 384th hit of the season, absolutely smashing the NHL record for most hits in a single-season.
384-HIT WONDER 💥
Kiefer Sherwood breaks the

single-season record in hits with 384 (and counting).
Sherwood is not done either, as he has the rest of this matchup and 12 more games to get a ridiculous 400 hits on the season, a record that will be hard to break for years to come.
If all goes well and Sherwood stays healthy, this feat will 100% be smashed as he has averaged 6 hits per game this year.
This 2024-2025 season has been monumental for more reasons that one for the 29-year-old power forward.
Besides the fact that he smashed the hits record, he has reached a career high in goals (15) and points (29) while averaging 14:42 of ice time, over a minute more than his previous best with the Predators.
Congratulations Kiefer Sherwood!
