Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk shared a heartwarming moment with his dad & former NHLer Louie DeBrusk following Saturday's game against Edmonton.

It was a tough night for the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday as they hosted Vasily Podkolzin and the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Arena. The Canucks weren't able to pull off a fourth-straight victory as Edmonton took the two points by defeating Vancouver 7-3.

The third period is where things went south for Rick Tocchet's group, as the Canucks allowed four goals in the final frame, with Kevin Lankinen being pulled with less than ten minutes remaining.

Jake DeBrusk shares heartwarming moment with his dad, Louie

Jake DeBrusk had a tough start to his time with the Vancouver Canucks, there's no doubt about that. But ever since the team's first game of the California road trip in San Jose, DeBrusk has found his groove. Through 13 games, DeBrusk has eight points (three goals, five assists), ten penalty minutes and has an even-rating.

After Saturday's loss, Jake DeBrusk was a guest on 'After Hours' with his dad Louie, as well as Scott Oake. DeBrusk shared a heartwarming moment with his dad during the interview when discussing the end of his goalless drought in San Jose.

"Listen, you weren't getting shots and when you're playing, when you're rolling around the net and you're getting your opportunities, pucks start to go in for you. And I think that's for any good player that's a scorer. If you're not getting your opportunities, you're going to have to change and work a little harder to get your opportunities, I think you've done that in the last little few games and created in the offensive zone and the puck's starting to go in for you, no question." Louie DeBrusk said.

He added, "And you know for me, it's not just about shots, it's not just about throwing the puck at the net from about a real sharp angle, it's about moving your feet to get yourself to a better spot too. If you really want it, you're going to challenge somebody, you're going to get to that spot to get the shot away and you've always had a nose around the net and that's when pucks go in for you."

His father Louie DeBrusk also went an extra step to share a special and heartfelt moment by showing a home video of Jake DeBrusk as a child, scoring his first ever goal in organized hockey.

DeBrusk will continue to get those opportunites to put the puck in the back of the net, there's no question about that. He's going to be a very important piece of this Canucks team for the duration of his contract and he'll be given every opportunity to succeed by Rick Tocchet and hopefully, he'll be able to be a 25+ goal player for Vancouver.
