Canucks make an announcement on prospect Vilmer Alriksson
The Abbotsford Canucks, American Hockey League affiliate have made an announcement regarding Swedish prospect Vilmer Alriksson.
In a post on social media, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they've signed prospect Vilmer Alriksson to an amateur try-out contract for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
"Abbotsford Canucks General Manager, Ryan Johnson, announced today that the club has signed forward Vilmer Alriksson to an amateur try-out agreement." The team said in a post on X. Alriksson, 19, was chosen in the first round of the CHL Import Draft in 2023 by the Ontario Hockey League's Guelph Storm, where he spent this season until they were swept by the Soo Greyhounds in the playoffs.
In 67 regular season games with the Storm, Alriksson had 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) and 35 penalty minutes and went on to add one goal in four playoff games.
It's unclear when Vilmer Alriksson will make his American Hockey League debut with the Abbotsford Canucks, but with the team having five games remaining in the regular season, it should come at some point before the playoffs.
