Canucks Set to Link Up Once Again with New York Rangers in 1-for-1 Trade Talks
As the Vancouver Canucks return from their 2 week break due to the Inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, the Canucks could once again combine in a trade with the New York Rangers going 1-for-1 with defensemen.
A few weeks ago, the Canucks and Rangers combined in a trade that sent
J.T. Miller over for Victor Mancini, Filipino Chytil and 1st-round pick, but now, they may be set to do the same thing.
Canucks Interested in convincing with Rangers to acquire Ryan Lindgren
After signing a 1-year contract in the offseason to prove that he can still be an elite D-Man in the NHL, Ryan Lindgren has not lived up to the expectations.
There has been speculation since the start of the 2024-2025 season that Lindgren could be the most obvious trade token, and his name has come up once again, this time with the Canucks.
With both defenseman not playing their best in their respective teams, it really could be the perfect opportunity for the Rangers and Canucks to link up once again and away d-men to give them a change of scenery in hopes of them fishing their games again.
With Lindgren being more effective defensemen overall, the incentive for a 1-for-1 comes from soucy's hard nose play style and contract terms.
The 30-year-old eats minutes, plays 18 TOI a night, and has no issues sacrificing the body, blocking 85 shots, and contributing 82 hits this year.
Best of all, his AAV is $3.3 million, a $1.2 million cost-savings on the salary cap for the Rangers.
If the Rangers are willing to give Soucy a look, Lindgren would be a welcomed addition on the Vancouver blue line.
