Columbus Blue Jackets in Hot Pursuit Of Elias Pettersson After Preliminary Talks with the Vancouver Canucks

According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Vancouver Canucks may have found a suitable trade destination for Elias Pettersson after Preliminary talks with the Columbus Blue Jackets have taken place.
After it was disclosed that it has been a lot harder than expected to trade superstar forward J.T. Miller, general manager Patrik Allvin has resorted to making the difficult decision to listen to offers from NHL teams for drama counterpart Elias Pettersson.

Insider and TSN Analyst Pierre LeBrun has reported that since the Columbus Blue Jackets have moved into a playoff spot, they are making serious efforts to push for upgrades in order to increase their chances of keeping it.
While holding the most amount of cap space in the NHL, the Blue Jackets have begun preliminary talks with the Vancouver Canucks for star forward Elias Pettersson amid the drama surrounding him and J.T. Miller.
"A team to talk about is the Columbus Blue Jackets and it's not surprising because they have massive salary cap space," LeBrun explained on Insider Trading. "So as the Canucks make their rounds talking to teams on both J.T. Miller, and Pettersson, the conversation with the Blue Jackets is on Pettersson."
Over the past 24 hours, there has been no update on how far a long these "talks" have gone, but like most teams, they are wondering if the Canucks are willing to go down on their wanted return price.
"What I'm sensing around the market, whether it's Miller or Pettersson, is that teams are willing to see if the Canucks are willing to bring their asking price down on either player before they engage more fully."
One thing is for certain since Jim Rutherford confirmed the rift between the two stars is that they are looking for a center and defenseman in return for either EP40 or Miller.
