An NHL insider says that there's a chance Elias Pettersson's season for the Vancouver Canucks is over due to an injury sustained last month in New York.

During Vancouver's road trip in March, they made a stop in The Big Apple to take on J.T. Miller and the New York Rangers, but unfortunately, Elias Pettersson was forced to leave the game due to injury and did not return.
Just two days later, Elias Pettersson and Nils Hoglander, who also suffered an injury in that game, returned to Vancouver for further evaluation and haven't played since.

Elliotte Friedman gives unfortunate update on Elias Pettersson

On the Saturday Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada this weekend, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman gave an update on the status of Elias Pettersson.
Friedman said that Pettersson has not given up hope on playing again this season, but one source told him that they though it would be unlikely that he'd suit up again in 2024-25.
He went on to add as of right now, it's uncertain if he'll be able to return before the end of the regular season, which for Vancouver is on April 17th.
"Pettersson has not given up hope on playing this year. One source said they thought it would be unlikely we'd see him, but the key is Pettersson has not given up hope on playing this year." Friedman said.

He added, "Right now, at best, it's fair to say that's uncertain."

It's safe to say that this season has been the toughest of Elias Pettersson's NHL career thus far, from dealing with a reported feud with former teammate J.T. Miller and struggling to produce any offense throughout the year.
If Elias Pettersson's season is indeed over, the Sundsvall, Sweden native finished with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten in 64 games.
The Canucks has just six games remaining in the regular season and with the club trying to hold onto any hopes to making it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they'll be in tough without Elias Pettersson.
