Former Vancouver Canucks forward Aaron Volpatti has found himself in some hot water with the City of Vernon, British Columbia, who is taking him to small claims court.

Aaron Volpatti's NHL's career began in Vancouver back in 2010-11 and his tenure in the city lasted parts of three seasons before he was claimed off waivers by the Washington Capitals and now ten years after his retirement, he's found himself in trouble with a city in British Columbia.

In an article on The Chilliwack Express, Brendan Shykora shared that former Vancouver Canucks forward Aaron Volpatti is being sued by the City of Vernon, British Columbia because of unpaid parking tickets.
Shykora added that the City of Vernon, British Columbia is taking Volpatti to small claims court after documents revealed that he has 13 unpaid parking tickets and owes the city $650 CAD.
"According to court documents filed on Feb. 24, Aaron Volpatti racked up 13 unpaid tickets between November 2023 and December 2024, and owes the city $650.

The documents show Volpatti parked either his Ford F-150 or his Toyota Rav4 at expired parking meters on downtown Vernon streets. Each ticket would have been $15 if paid on time but jumped up to $50 after the 28-day grace period." Shykora said.

The Revelstoke, British Columbia native appeared in 114 games in the National Hockey League between 2010-11 and 2014-15 with the Vancouver Canucks and Washington Capitals where he put up seven points (five goals, two assists), 137 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight.
After retiring from hockey, Volpatti became a keynote speaker and a cognitive performance coach, helping people through adversity while sharing his story after a campfire accident in 2005 left him with second and third degree burns to 40% of his body.
Volpatti overcame that incident and continued his hockey career in the BCHL before playing collegiate hockey with Brown University and from there, living out his dream by being in the National Hockey League.
