Canucks Have A Serious Decision to Make as Former 1st-Round Pick is Made Available for Free by the Bruins
As the Vancouver Canucks and many NHL clubs around the league gear up for a run at making the Stanley Cup Playoffs, The Boston Bruins have made a former top draft pick available by placing him on waivers, and now the Canucks have a decision to make.
Patrik Allvin has gotten fairly busy in the last month, making trades left right and center in order to try and push for a playoff spot.
Now that they won their last game against the Los Angeles Kings and officially are in the inside looking out, they still have some glaring hole sin their lineup that they need to address.
Should the Vancouver Canucks claim Oliver Wahlstrom off waivers from the Boston Bruins?
It was reported earlier by trusted NHL insiders Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston that the Boston Bruins placed former 11th overall pick Oliver Wahlstrom for the purpose of sending him to their AHL (American Hockey League) Affiliate.
Oliver Wahlstrom (BOS) has been placed on waivers
Although disappointing in his tenure with the both the New York Islanders (Placed on waivers as well) and Boston Bruins this season, being a high overall pick still showcases that he may have some more left in the tank.
As the trade deadline approaches, it is always the best bet to try and get players of depth for cheap, and this is exactly what the Canucks can do with Wahlstrom if given the chance in the waiver order.
Just making $1 million a year, the Canucks take absolutely no risk with all the upside.
The Nucks need depth middle-six scoring if they are going to make a run during the playoffs, and with all the injuries that have occurred already this season, the 24-year-old could be a solid pickup.
