Insider confirms it for Ian Clark and the Canucks
As the Canucks were just about to start their training camp, they announced that Ian Clark would no longer serve as the team's Director of goaltending development.
Patrik Allvin announced that the man responsable for making
Thatcher Demko and
Arturs Silovs the goaltenders they are today, would change function within the organization and now act as a scout.
Rick Dhaliwal confirms it for Ian Clark and the Canucks
On the Donnie and Dhali show, Rick Dhaliwal addressed the Canucks' organizational change and confirmed that Ian Clark had been demoted. Some believed that he requested a change to be closer to home, but Dhaliwal was clear in his explanation:
It was a demotion. I think he wanted to be director of goaltending. It wouldn't be surprising if Canucks at some point gave teams permission to talk to him.
Soon to be contacted by other teams
A man of his stature, his experience and his resume, it would definitely not be a surprise if ended up shopping for a new team. The Canucks will have to grant him permission to seek for other opportunities, but it shouldn't be a problem.
At this moment, the clarification behind the Canucks' decision is still unknown and as he is still under contract with the team, Clark won't be coming out to the media anytime soon.
