With composure, Demko stood up to the media and confidently gave good news about his progress and rehabilitation. The netminder was very weary of divulging any more information on a potential timetable for his return, as were Patrik Allvin and Rick Tocchet whenever they were asked about the subject.
It first started a little over a month ago, when the NHL analyst Kevin Woodley was on Canucks Central to talk about the speculated surgery that Demko had over the summer. At this point, the expected timeline for Demko was mid to late October. However, the timeline may have sped up over the past two to three weeks due to his recent progress.
The renowned Pierre Lebrun added to the subject following Demko's media appearance. On Overdrive, the veteran insider revealed that the netminder was four weeks behind the plan drawn up at the end of the year. To his belief, all hope is not lost, and Demko could be ready for the start of the season. The Canucks are, however, very prudent and in no rush to make it happen:
Given his track record, the Canucks are going to be cautious with this one. For the time being, Demko is confident that he'll be back at 100% and that's precisely what the Canucks need, until then, expect Arturs Silovs to run the show.
