The Canucks' former management had often been placed under fire for their selections. Mainly their lack of selecting players in their own court and right now it's looking as bad as it possibly could.

During the 2021 Draft, the Canucks held the rights to the 41st pick, which they used to select the BelaRussian, Danila Klimovich. While it may have looked, or still looks like an enticing project, the winger has yet to make an impact at the professional level.

The Stars look like they have landed the jackpot with the 47th selection. Dallas took a shot on the Kamloops, BC native Logan Stankoven and he's been absolutely lights out ever since. Following his draft year, he went on to produce two dominant WHL seasons collecting 104 points in 59 outings and 97 in 48 games the following.

The belief was that the professional jump would slow him down, but the AHL had nothing to hold him off and the 57 points he's managed through 47 games are good enough for the league's second spot, behind Mavrik Bourque who's had three more game to collect 58 points.

Stankoven was recently called up to the NHL, and he recently collected his second goal and third point in as many games:

Logan Stankoven scored for the second time in as many games and did so 60 seconds into Tuesday's contest. The @DallasStars have five goals in the opening minute this season the second most among all teams and trailing only Edmonton (6).

Klimovich for his part, is now completing his third season at the AHL level, through his first 151 games he's only collected 51 points.
