LATEST | Former Canucks forward placed on waivers: Intriguing depth alternative for Allvin?
With a tight salary cap, many teams have been forced to waive certain players to fit the NHL's regulations. This situation has placed teams in tough spots as they usually have to expose their players to every other team in the NHL.
FORMER CANUCK ON THE WAIVER WIRE
The Ottawa Senators have placed the former Canuck Zack MacEwen on the waiver wire. Carrying a $0.775M cap hit, MacEwen was a victim of the NHL's tight cap hit:
Placed on NHL waivers today: Zack MacEwen (OTT).
A DEPTH OPTION FOR PATRIK ALLVIN?
Always looking for opportunities to improve his line-up, MacEwen could be an addition to the team's depth chart. He's a right-handed shot winger who isn't scared to get his nose dirty. Could he be a better alternative to Philip Di Giuseppe or Nils Aman, who will probably be seeding as the team's 12th and 13th forward?
MacEwen has two more years to his current contract, and it's probably why he'll go unclaimed. With the salary cap's uncertainty, teams aren't lining up to take that deal, even if it's at league minimum.
