LATEST | Patrik Allvin officially announces a roster movement: Promising forward finally gets the call-up
Both Rick Tocchet and Patrik Allvin had been talking about it. The team rewarded the defenceman Jett Woo with a call-up earlier this week and the Canucks now called another rookie up so that he could have his first experiment with the pros.
ALLVIN ANNOUNCES ROSTER MOVEMENT
Rick Tocchet pointed out last night that one particular prospect had been standing at the AHL Level and following his AHL All Star nomination, it was the easy call. The Abbotsford Canucks leader in points, Arshdeep Bains, finally got the call per Allvin's announcement:
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Jett Woo has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) and F Arshdeep Bains has been recalled from Abbotsford.
After spending the week with the NHL club, Woo will be going back to Abbotsford while Bains will be making the trip the other way around. Bains, 22, is in his second AHL season and currently leads the team in points with 9 goals and 30 assists in 42 games.
Bains really stood out during the team's training camp and with his strong play since the beginning of the season, it was only a matter of time until he'd get a call-up. There currently aren't any indications that he'll get an opportunity to play since the Canucks already have 12 forwards, but Dakota Joshua's injury, Tocchet might be tempted to give him a shot.
