LATEST | Patrik Allvin reveals his surprising strategy regarding the team's pending free agents
The Vancouver Canucks have their sights set on returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2020 and are in a very good position to make that happen. Given that 2020 was the bubble playoffs, this will mark the first time that post-season games have been played at since 2015.
Although their focus is on the ice, the management group is likely already pondering which free agents they'd like to bring back and those who will be able to walk free to July 1st.
On Monday, Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was interviewed by Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic and said that the team isn't in a rush to sign any of their pending unrestricted free agents given their cap situation. Allvin went on to say that if someone wants to come into his office and discuss a team-friendly deal, then he'd be all for it.
"At this point, we probably wait, yeah," Patrik Allvin said. "Unless they come in and they're begging to sign a really team-friendly deal."
According to CapFriendly, the Vancouver Canucks currently have eight pending unrestricted free agents on their NHL roster right now - Elias Lindholm, Teddy Blueger, Sam Lafferty, Tyler Myers, Nikita Zadorov, Ian Cole, Mark Friedman and Casey DeSmith.
It's going to be interesting to see who Patrik Allvin brings back next season and who become unrestricted free agents on July 1st.
