Vancouver Canucks Jim Rutherford has suggested in a recent interview with Gary Mason of The Globe and Mail, suggests that Quinn Hughes may be on the move at some point if the rift between JT Miller and Elias Pettersson does not get resolved.
The interview was quite a wake up call for many as Rutherford confirmed the drama that is taking place between Pettersson and MillerRutherford confirmed the drama that is taking place between Pettersson and Miller, and would like to figure out a solution that does affect the tram long-term success.
Jim Rutherford Wants to Make Sure Quinn Hughes will not leave the Vancouver Canucks Amid J.T. Miller & Elias Pettersson Rift
Canucks' President Jim Rutherford dropped a bombshell of an interview today (Jan 29th) revealing that the team culture and chemistry is being compromised due to all of the outside noise.
His main focus other than trading away Miller and Pettersson is to make sure that the team does not enter a complete rebuild, because if that is the case, Captain Hughes could be on the move.
«If we're going to completely start over that means he goes. And we'd like to figure out a way that he's here forever,» Rutherford said of the Canucks' captain, who leads the team in points by a wide margin. Hughes has been otherworldly once again this season, and finds himself at the front of the Norris Trophy conversation and firmly in the NHL's Hart Trophy conversation as well, despite all the noise.
The whole season and everyone apart of the Canucks have clearly reached their boiling point, as Rutherford blatantly told the media that the team and the year cannot be saved.
Rutherford saw everyone joking about the season being salvaged and said "absolutely not"
Hopefully all of these matter can get settled as Hughes' Norris season and potential MVP is going to waste with the dark cloud of trade rumors and speculation hanging over them.
