NHL issues a statement on captain Quinn Hughes
Quinn Hughes' strong season has translated to the Stanley Cup Playoffs as he's been one of Vancouver's best players through the first three games against the Nashville Predators.
In a post on their Public Relations account on X, the National Hockey League made a statement on Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, sharing that he can set a new franchise mark in the team's first round series, if he records two more assists.
"Quinn Hughes has four helpers through three contests in the 2024 #StanleyCup Playoffs thanks to another multi-assist effort in Game 3. #NHLStats" The NHL's Public Relations account said in a post on X.
They added, "Quinn Hughes needs two assists to set a franchise mark for most in a series by a defenceman. The only blueliners with five in a series are Hughes (2020 R2 & 2020 SCQ) and Alexander Edler (2009 CSF)."
There's no doubt that Quinn Hughes will get two more assists before the series ends, it's just a matter of when, not if. Hughes could very well hit that mark on Sunday in Game 4 as the Canucks look to take a 3-1 series lead over the Nashville Predators.
Hughes had a Norris-calibre season in 2023-24 and it's not shocking to see what he's done so far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If the Canucks want to go on a deep run and potentially win the Stanley Cup, they'll need Hughes to continue to be at the top of his game.
