After announcing five relegations yesterday, Patrik Allvin now made it official for Samuel Blais.
Allvin announced via the Canucks social media that Samuel Blais had been released from his professional try-out and would report to the Abbotsford Canucks, where he signed a one-way contract earlier.
Blais, 28, needed to come in and surprise everyone. The performances he put on display weren't enough to earn him a contract, Rick Tocchet noted that his conditioning wasn't good enough for the Canucks' expectations.
Blais will now report to the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL where he signed a one-year deal. If he proves to be effective in Abbotsford, nothing says the Canucks won't sign him and call him up at some point during the season either.
One thing certain, an experienced and seasoned veteran like Samuel Blais will definitely be a nice addition to the Canucks' young core. Players like Max Sasson, Aatu Raty, Arshdeep Bains and Jonathan Lekkerimaki will definitely benefit from having a Stanley Cup winner on their side.
The Canucks had brought two players on professional try outs, the goaltender Dylan Ferguson, and Samuel Blais, both have been released and have reported to their respective AHL clubs.
