Patrik Allvin Announces the Departure of 3 Vancouver Canucks Prospects Today
The Vancouver Canucks have made a trio of roster moves on Friday afternoon, but all three players will remain on the NHL roster for the time being.
Trade deadline day
was very quiet for the Vancouver Canucks as Patrik Allvin didn't make any deals today, opting to stand pat with his current roster as they continue their hunt for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Not only are the Vancouver Canucks looking for a spot in the playoffs, their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford is as well and should they get there, they'll have some reinforcement available to them in their chase for the Calder Cup.
Vancouver Canucks announce roster moves on Friday afternoon
Just before the 12 pm PT trade deadline, the Vancouver Canucks assigned top prospect
Jonathan Lekkerimaki, defenseman Victor Mancini and goaltender
Arturs Silovs to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League.
However, all three players won't be heading to Abbotsford as this was just a paper transaction in order to ensure they're eligible to play in the Calder Cup Playoffs this spring.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the following players were assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) before 12 PM PT:
- D Victor Mancini
- F Jonathan Lekkerimaki
- G Arturs Silovs (emergency conditions not terminated)" the Canucks said.
Lekkerimaki, 20, has appeared in 12 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks where he's tallied three points (two goals, one assist), two penalty minutes and is a minus-six.
Mancini, 22, was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks in late January
as part of the return for J.T. Miller from the New York Rangers and so far, he's skated in just one game in Vancouver and five in Abbotsford.
Silovs, a native of Riga, Latvia, has spent the majority of the season in the AHL, but with
Thatcher Demko on the sidelines again, he's back up with the NHL club.
In nine games with Vancouver this season, Silovs has a record of 1-6-1 with a 3.85 goals against average and an .858 save percentage.
The Vancouver Canucks are back in action tonight as they host the Minnesota Wild for the second game of their four game homestand, with puck drop from Rogers Arena set for just after 7 pm PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
