Ryan Kesler & Vancouver Canucks Alumni Raise Over $1 Million For Incredible Cause
Vancouver Canucks Alumni have helped raise over $1 million this past weekend for an important cause.
The sixth-annual CAN Pro-Am was held this past weekend in Surrey, British Columbia with several former Vancouver Canucks in attendance including Ryan Kesler, Chris Higgins, Jannik Hansen, Kirk McLean, Eddie Lack, Matt Cooke, Brad May, Mason Raymond, Derek Roy, Derek Dorsett, Cody Hodgson, Frankie Corrado, Dave Babysh, Cliff Ronning and Geoff Courtnall.
Participating teams in the charity tournament that raised over $25,000 had one Vancouver Canucks or National Hockey League alumni on their roster for the weekend. Games began on Saturday morning and ran through Sunday, culminating in an All-Star Game.
Over $1 million raised for Canucks Autism Network
Proceeds from the tournament, whether that be registration fees for teams and players or just donations in general, where given to the Canucks Autism Network, who, according to their website, help deliver programs for children, youth, and adults, while promoting inclusion and acceptance across BC and beyond.
In a social post on the officail account for the National Hockey League Alumni, it was announced that over $1.1 million was raised from the Pro-Am tournament.
"The Vancouver Canucks Autism Network Pro-am took place over the weekend with 19 NHL Alumni members participating. Fans got to draft and skate with Alumni on their team for a fun-filled weekend which included a hockey tournament with the teams competing on ice. The @canucksautism raised over $1.1 million dollars to help provide programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through accessibility consultation and training initiatives across BC and beyond. Thank you to all the teams and Alumni on an incredible weekend and successful event!" The NHL Alumni X account said.
It's fantastic to see quite a lot of money raised thanks to this incredible event, which is going to help families all across British Columbia. The countdown is on for the 2025 CAN Pro-Am, where they'll no doubt attempt to surpass the amount raised this year.
