After spending the better part of a season and a half with the Edmonton Oilers, 6'7 defenseman Vincent Desharnais found himself with a big opportunity when the Vancouver Canucks singed him to a 2-year, $4 million deal.
Unfortunately, his short tenure with the Canucks has not panned out the way either side wanted, and now a trade could be the best option.
With Vincent Desharnais not even cracking the lineup each night, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin may consider sending him back to the Oilers, especially due to the fact it is already released what the Canucks want in return for the big man.
NHL insider Friedman confirmed that Canucks GM Patrik Allvin is not looking to get any active players or prospects for Desharnais, but would rather stock up on draft picks, for the main purpose of shedding the contract.
With Filip Hronek on the injured reserve with a lower body injury, Desharnais has been playing more, and it is not that he is playing poor, he is just not living up to his play of last season when he played alongside Brett Kulak on the Oilers 3rd pairing.
The Oilers previous history with Desharnais will most likely give the Canucks the best opportunity to obtain the highest return on a player that would normally not get much.
