Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser Reportedly Disrespected During Contract Negotiations
Pending unrestricted free agent forward Brock Boeser has reportedly felt disrespected by the Vancouver Canucks during contract talks earlier this season.
In the first half of the 2024-25 season, the Vancouver Canucks
made a five-year contract offer worth $40 million ($8 million AAV) to Brock Boeser, but it was turned down as the 28-year-old is seeking more term and that deal is reportedly no longer on the table.
Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser reportedly felt disrespected by club
During Monday's edition of Donnie & Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal revealed that Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser felt disrespected during contract negotiations with the team this season.
Dhaliwal said that they're not close on a deal, while also shared that he would be quite shocked if the two sides were to come to an agreement on a contract extension before the trade deadline on Friday at 12 pm PT.
"At times during the negotiations, he's felt disrespected. As of this morning, they are not close on a contract. They couldn't cut a deal in eight months, how are they going to cut a deal in five days? It would be shocking to me if they cut a deal in five days." Dhaliwal said.
With a contract extension unlikely, the Vancouver Canucks have two options with Brock Boeser - keep him as their own rental to help with their playoff push or trade him before the deadline this Friday.
If Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks' management group decide that they want to go down the trade route, there certainly won't be a shortage of teams interested in landing Brock Boeser, with
the Ottawa Senators along with the
Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights among those he's been linked to in recent weeks.
Boeser's production might be down from the 2023-24 season when he had 40 goals, but he would be a reliable top-six scoring winger for a contending team that's in need of help putting the puck in the back of the net.
It should be an interesting week for the Canucks as we approach the trade deadline as along with Brock Boeser,
Carson Soucy,
Derek Forbort and
Pius Suter are all options to be moved out of Vancouver by Patrik Allvin.
