The Vancouver Canucks are faced with a big decision today as the Seattle Kraken have placed $35.4 goaltender Philipp Grubauer on waivers.

Ever since Thatcher Demko has returned from his devastating knee injury, he has not been the same net minder.
If the Canucks want to make a push for the playoffs that may need to be a tough decision.

Should the Vancouver Canucks

With the Seattle Kraken trailing in the playoff race, fans had a big surprise today when they placed their bonified #1 goalie on waivers.
The reason for the waiver move is to send him down to the American Hockey League (AHL) and get some confidence playing with the Coachella Valley Forebirds.
In 21 games this season, the 33-year-old has struggled badly, winning just five games, achieving an abysmal 3.83 Goals Against average a .866 save percentage.
January has especially been a tough month for the veteran, losing all of his five starts of the month. - Julien Trekker

NHL clubs like the Canucks will have until tomorrow afternoon to put their claim in.
With how badly Demko has performed since coming back from a knee injury that almost ended his career, the Canucks have a tough decision to make.
Grubauer is a proven starter that in the right situation can flourish, but that would mean Demko will too have to be sent down.
It has already been made clear by Demko that he is not happy right now in Vancouver, and this waiver move could be the final nail in the coffin.
