Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet Announces Details on Elias Pettersson's Injury - Could Be Worse Than Expected
The Injury bug is quickly making its way through the Vancouver Canucks lockeroom, and its latest victim is no other than star forward Elias Pettersson.
When the Vancouver Canucks took on the San Jose Sharks last night on the eve of the holiday break, the game was meant to send the team off on good footing, so when they come back, they can kick of the second half on the right.
Although securing the 4-3 win, the Vancouver Canucks did so with out the help of superstar forward Elias Pettersson in the 3rd period, who was seen going down the tunnel to the dressing room.
Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet Updates in Elias Pettersson's Injury
Even though there has not been any details on what or extent of the injury is, head coach Rick Tocchet does not seem to bothered by what he has heard regarding Pettersson's ailment.
«He got banged up,» said Tocchet. «I think it was in the second [period]. He tried it for one shift [in the third period]; we've got the break, so I don't think it's too bad.»
Although getting the win, the most disappointing factor about Pettersson's early exit is that he was probably having his best game of the entire season, scoring 2 goals for the first time this year, coming less than a minute apart from one another.
«We're always telling him to shoot, you know, the way he shoots the puck,» said Tyler Myers. «For him to get two quick ones like that at the second of the second, it was great to see Petey get that and build some momentum out of it.»
From what information has been gathered, the injury to Elias Pettersson does not seem to serious, but for him not to return to the game, the injury can be worse than expected. Hopefully the 1-week break is just what he needs to full recover.
