With the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline coming down to the wire, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has officially got down to business and have completed a trade with the New York Rangers.
According to NHL Insiders Elliotte Friedman, Darren Dreger and Frank Seravalli, the Vancouver Canucks have completed a trade that will send 30-year-old defenseman Carson Soucy to the New York Rangers for a 2025 3rd-round pick.
Trade details, per sources:
To #NYR: D Carson Soucy
To #Canucks: 2025 SJS 3rd Round Pick
Soucy waived his no-trade clause to complete the trade. He has one year left on his deal at $3 million.
After a season where Soucy Struggled to be a key member of the Vancouver Canucks backend, becoming more of a liability than trusted d-man, Soucy waived his no-move clause in order to go to the Big Apple.
He will be joining his former team mate and friend J.T. Miller who was traded at the end of January.
Although the return may not be what fans can get excited about, it actually does more good than bad as Patrik Allvin has shed $3.25 million off their books, which can come useful if they want to offer more to pending free-agent Brock Boeser.
A third for Soucy is a solid return & clears $3.25M off the books next season
