The National Hockey League's trade deadline has come and gone with the Vancouver Canucks making zero moves on the day, but they did attempt to land a top-six forward.
Before the Buffalo Sabres landed Josh Norris from the Senators, a number of teams inquired on his availability, including Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver Canucks among teams to inquire on Josh Norris
Following the news of the Buffalo-Ottawa trade this morning, TSN reporter Bruce Garrioch shed some light into other teams that checked in on Josh Norris with Senators General Manager Steve Staios.
Garrioch shared that the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators were deep in discussions on a trade that would've seen Ryan O'Reilly land in the nation's capital, but nothing materialized on that front.
He also added that the Vancouver Canucks were among the teams that talked to the Ottawa Senators about a Josh Norris trade.
"Bruce Garrioch on TSN says Sens went far down the road with Nashville in a deal involving Josh Norris and Ryan O'Reilly that fell apart last night, they also talked to Vancouver about a deal involving Josh Norris as well."
The Vancouver Canucks will have to wait until this summer to address their need for help down the middle with a number of free agents that could be available to them on July 1st including
Sam Bennett,
Matt Duchene,
Ryan Donato, among others.
