When you think of a goalie goal, it's usually an exciting moment when a netminder fires a puck down the length of the ice into an empty net and is jumped on by his teammates as they celebrate one of the more rare feats in the game of hockey.
While it might not have technically been a goalie goal, Washington Capitals netminder Charlie Lindgren did shoot a puck into a net, but unfortunately, it happened to be his own team's.
With less than 13 minutes remaining in the third period and the two teams knotted up at 3-3, Charlie Lindgren comes out of his crease to play the puck that was dumped into his zone and that's when the unthinkable happens.
Lindgren, who was facing some pressure from Lightning forward Jake Guentzel, went to shovel the puck behind the net for his teammate when he accidently shoots it into his own net, giving Tampa Bay a 4-3 lead.
A few minutes later though, defenceman John Carlson would score for the Capitals, tying the game up at 4-4, before Tom Wilson deflected home a shot on the powerplay with less than four minutes remaining in the third period.
With the win, the Washington Capitals jumped into the second spot in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 16-6-1 through 23 games and once Alexander Ovechkin comes back from injury, this is going to be one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference
It was a moment Washington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren won't ever forget for the rest of his life, but thankfully his team was able to bail him out and take the two points over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
