Like McDavid or Lindros, for that matter, he will most likely change the lottery winning franchise for years to come. Thus far, he's not only proven himself to be a great player on the ice, but he's also proven to be quite entertaining in interviews. From the interviews he's given, we've seen a confident young man who's authentic and doesn't shy away from saying what goes through his mind.
Since the season started, Bedard has stated on multiple occasions that he's a Vancouver Canuck and that he'd would greatly appreciate the opportunity to share his skill set in a Canadian market. His dad even shared his interests into seeing his young man performing in the NHL's greatest market. The Bedards certainly aren't afraid of the pressure surrounding the game.
That being said, we're almost half-way through the season and we're now getting a better idea of the teams that are possible lottery winners. It includes markets that have showed themselves to being less attractive for some players.
Ryan Whitney recently made an intriguing statement regarding the possible situation the Hockey standout may be facing.
What if Connor Bedard doesn't feel like playing in front of only 5000 fans? Could he really pull such a stunt, would the NHL allow it? To be fair, he's been filling up arenas since entering the WHL.
Knowing Bedard most likely has the power to pull it off, could he force the team with the 1st overall pick to not draft him? It's happened recently at the junior levels, but it hasn't happened since 1991 with Eric Lindros in the NHL.
