The Canucks made the announcement yesterday that their veteran forward Tanner Pearson would not renew with action after having a second-hand surgery, following an injury that happened at the end of November. Following the announcement, Quinn Hughes commented on the matter, and ever since then it's been quite the fiasco around the Vancouver team.

From what we've heard from Donnie and Dhali, Pearson would've been through three or four procedures (two surgeries confirmed by the team) already and he may need more. He dealt with an infection on top of it all, there's no confirmation that he'll be back next year and he could be career-threatening.

Now a major statement came out of the Jeff Marek Show, in which Elliotte Friedman hinted that both the NHL and NHLPA could possibly get involved between the Canucks and Pearson to sort this out. It's also been revealed that it was not the first time the Canucks were looked at for how they deal with injuries.

After Hughes made the statement about these cases being mishandled. It raised awareness all around the league and now we'll just have to see where this goes. Rutherford added the following, later in the day.
