A proven goal-scorer, power-play specialist and only 25 years of age. A player of this stature definitely gathers interest, though today's tight salary cap makes it hard to complete trades whoever the player coming in is. Since the new management group came in, the Canucks and Boeser have apparently grown apart, even though they inked him to a three-year deal worth over $19 million over the summer.
Boeser has been linked to number of teams, though his agent confirmed he had already spoken with the New Jersey Devils and the Minnesota Wild.
Both teams are very fond of the young man, but they're also both in a tight spot salary cap wise. Since the Canucks have opened up on the possibility of retaining salary, we can now anticipate a much better return.
Canucks are looking for cap space and young players that have yet to bloom with their respective teams. It was previously brought up that the Devils would be ready to part ways with Alexander Holtz if 30% of Boeser's salary was retained.
The Wild on the other hand have a young centerman by the name of Marco Rossi, who's averaging a little over a point-per-game in the AHL over the last two years, but can't catch his stride in the NHL. Could the Canucks fetch Rossi in a return for such a trade? He was the ninth overall pick in the 2020 Draft and registered a 120 points in his last OHL season as a 17-year-old.
Brock Boeser was the team's first-round selection all the way back in 2015, since the beginning of the season, he managed 30 points in 42 games. Would you be keen to retaining some salary if the Wild involved Rossi in a trade proposal for Boeser?
