MAJOR | Bruce Boudreau reveals a specific demand Elias Pettersson made: It says a lot about him
When the Canucks finally pulled the trigger on their coaching change, it was a relief for Bruce Boudreau who knew precisely what was coming. The way the team's management dealt with it was pointed out on multiple occasions and it isn't about to be forgotten.
Bruce has now started to take interviews again and every single time he reveals tons of valuable information about the players' personalities. It's very well known that he and Elias Pettersson were very close, Boudreau has repeatedly stated that Pettersson was a one-of-a-kind player. The latest revelation he made only confirms that:
''The pre-season game we played in Abbotsford he said to me before the game that he wanted to play against McDavid every shift.''
Pettersson has developed into a top-end offensive performer but hasn't left his defensive game behind. The Swede superstar excelled at both ends of the ice this year and the fact that he asks to be matched up against the league's very best only demonstrates his will to take on the next level.
Pettersson collected an impressive 102 points this year, with a struggling Canucks roster, and managed to receive votes for the Selke Trophy (even though he isn't in the top three). Pettersson is not trying to take the easy road out as he constantly seeks to improve and that's exactly the type of culture you want to set in your locker room.
