MAJOR | Stanley Cup winning centerman available cheap in 'cap dump' trade: Allvin needs to get ahold of this
Patrik Allvin has made it clear that he'd be looking out for a centerman, size and good penalty killers to add to Tocchet's line-up. Now that the team has room under the salary cap, it gives them something to work with.
The New York Rangers were greatly disappointed when they fell short to the young and mighty New Jersey Devils in the playoffs' first round. Their GM, Chris Drury, has been known to be quite active in improving his lineup. The Flyers have started a fire sale, and the Rangers are reportedly trying to make a run for the star F Travis Konecny.
In order to do so, they'll need to free up some cap space, and everything points to Barclay Goodrow being the player that needs to be sacrificed. Here's what David Pagnotta reported earlier:
''Hearing the #NYR are getting involved, per multiple sources. Expect Barclay Goodrow to be a cap dump, and they will try hard for star F Travis Konecny''
The 30-year-old, who was a part of the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won their back-to-back Stanley Cups, now carries a $3.6M AAV until the end of the 2026-2027 campaign. 6'02'' and 205, he brings speed, size and grit to his team. Well-known for his defensive abilities, Goodrow has been a consistent 30-point-producer and a brilliant penalty killer since he joined the Rangers.
If the Rangers are all-in for Konecny, they'll need to act fast since the Flyers are selling their most valued assets as we speak. Goodrow will most likely be traded for future considerations or a lower-tier prospect, perhaps it's the opportunity Patrik Allvin needs?
