Oliver Ekman-Larsson got injured badly a little after Rick Tocchet took over as the head coach. Today the coach addressed OEL's case and confirmed the worst for the veteran defenseman.

OEL got injured on February 15th and hasn't set foot on the ice since. Today Tocchet to the media that the Swede wasn't expected to play until the end of the season. Here's what Tocchet had to say about him:

''He's off the cast. He's walking now. He's really worked hard the last 3 or 4 weeks, and this is a big summer for him. I know a lot of people count him out, but I've got a feeling that he's going to have a really good year. There's a gleam in his eye. I can tell he's going to use this as motivation.''

It sure is nice to see Tocchet's confidence in OEL's regard. The veteran defender has only shown a glimpse of what he was supposed to bring to the table when Jim Benning acquired him. To have him in his best form heading into next year could definitely give the team a hand if they plan on making the playoffs.

Do you think the $8M defenseman can play up to the skills he displayed back in, what seemed to be his glory days in Arizona?
