It was an honourable day today for the Vancouver Canucks, Lord knows we haven't been able to say that enough as of late.

Three of the 6 members of this year's Hall induction came courtesy of the 2011 Era Canucks' team with Roberto Luongo & both Sedin twins getting the nod in their first year of eligibility.

Joining them was another Swede as longtime Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Senator after a short stint in Detroit to wrap up his career. Alfredsson finished with 1,157 Points in 1,246 Games, spending all but one season in a Sens Uniform.

Not bad for a 6th round pick.

Alongside 'Alfy' the Hall honoured Herb Carnegie, albeit posthumously, in the builder category for his trail blazing of being an African American man playing hockey in the 1940's. That career was immortalized in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, but it was his work building Future Aces Creed after his playing career that truly made him a builder. To wrap up the Induction Class Finnish Riikka Sallinen becomes just the 9th Woman to be welcomed into the Hall, after a decorated playing career which included being the oldest Finnish athlete to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

It was Hockey Night in Canada on a Friday in Toronto as the Leafs played host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pre-Game Ceremonies took centre stage with the inductees being brought to centre ice to join, among others, Mats Sundin, Darryl Sittler & Borje Salming. Salming, suffering from ALS was assisted by Hull to wave to a sold out crowd which induced all kinds of emotion across the league.

We will talk about that in another article.

Congratulations to Daniel Sedin, his brother Henrik who missed tonight's induction ceremony with CoViD, Roberto Luongo & the other trio of great Athletes who were welcomed today. What an honour, hopefully we can have some honour among this current roster of Canucks starting tomorrow at 4pm in Toronto.
