It begs the question of whether they signed the right centre after inking J.T. Miller to a 7 Year 56 Million Dollar deal that doesn't even begin until next season & expires when he is 36. His no trade clause will also kick in in July.
When you look at Horvat, his performance is truly off the charts.
12 goals in 13 GP, 16 PTs overall & a whopping FIVE PowerPlay tallies, plus a pair of goals while his team is a man short for good measure. 7 Special teams goals in 13 games.
Only one has been a true game winner, but many have tilted games in his teams' favour or put them ahead only for several of those games to end up losses on the score sheet.
The Athletic's Thomas Drance laid out a great piece today on his Twitter ahead of Canucks game day skate today.
If there isn't money to sign Bo, if there isn't urgency & more importantly ability to create that cap space, you're almost forced to deal him for the best package available. Yes, I KNOW he isn't Connor McDavid, but what he is is comparable in numbers right now, with the ability to be signed long term.
That means he could fetch a very pretty penny from several teams, with the cap rising as much as $4,000,000 next year, you have to believe a team is out there watching Horvat & imagining how he may look in their sweater.
Based on his roots alone &w here he grew up, Detroit is a great & obvious fit, but at what cost & does he fit into the Yzer-Plan?
