Pierre LeBrun makes an intriguing declaration about the Canucks' plans and asking price for Horvat
Pierre LeBrun was on "Insider Trading" yesterday and made an extremely intriguing revelation concerning the Canucks and their want regarding a future Horvat trade.
''I assumed the Canucks would be asking for a futures-only package, as selling, retooling teams most often do when they're dealing with an in-season trade ''
The words selling and retooling are used to describe the Canucks, is that where the team is heading? LeBrun seems to think the Canucks were going to head that way. Though if we look at the ask for Horvat, it looks as if the Canucks are not going to go down that road.
"Vancouver is looking instead for more of a hockey deal to upgrade at center ice and/or right-shot defense if possible and bring in a player in the twentysomething age range this Canucks management group has focused on since coming on board."
Two young players, we also know that the Canucks are determined to make more cap space. The question now is who has the means to pay the deed? Who's enough for the Canucks management group?
The Islanders have recently been seen heavily at the Canucks' game and a Canucks scout was seen at the most recent Islanders' game. We could also expect the Maple Leafs, the Rangers, and possibly the Panthers, they've all been named as teams possibly looking to add a rental to their top-6 for a deep playoff run.
Although the hope in most people's hearts is that he re-signs with the team, LeBrun also believes that the closer we move to the deadline, the chances of Bo re-signing are only lower.
