The Hurricanes have just lost Max Pacioretty for the remainder of the season and it's very well known that they don't trade for rental players. They've looking to find someone to take the middle ever since Vincent Trocheck left and Miller could definitely be a match, especially since Rod Brind'Amour is known for his knack for feisty players.
The Canes are in a good position to take on term and contracts. The Canucks on their end are looking to retool and lose as much salary as possible. Here's the trade suggestion that was drawn up:
TO CAROLINA:
- J.T. Miller
- Conor Garland
TO VANCOUVER:
- Jesperi Kotkaniemi
- Scott Morrow
- 1st Round Pick 2023
The Canes have stated that they are open to move their 1st round pick. Kotkaniemi is a young centerman that has yet to develop into the player the Montreal Canadiens had drafted 3rd overall a few years back, exactly what the Canucks are looking for.
Scott Morrow is a 20-year-old right-handed defenseman playing his sophomore year of collegiate hockey. The Canes' 2nd round selection in 2021 is a 6'2'' agile-skater and recognized for his ability to move the puck since he leads his team with 20 assists and 26 points in 30 games.
With the direction the club is taking, they'd be granted with an opportunity to unload cap for future years, acquire an extremely valuable 1st round pick and add younger talent. Should Allvin make the call?
