WOW: McDavid throws a tantrum at the referee and the ref gives him reason
The officiating in last night's game opposing McDavid and the Oilers to the Canucks, has been on everyone's feed since the game ended.
Many calls made during the game were questioned by the couch-referees, but one situation stood out in particular. After a great defensive play by the Canucks defenceman, McDavid got back up and absolutely lost it on the referee. Now that's one thing, but a few moments later, the referee felt he owed one to McDavid and awarded one of the weakest slashing calls we've seen this year. Here's the full sequence:
McDavid complains and gets a power lay? Doesn't it feel that lately players have been commanding penalties on demand, perhaps is it privilege you gain once you've acquired the superstar status? Because we've definitely seen Crosby or Ovi call for a penalty before. Should the refs stand their ground better?
