What is a win? In today's NHL, it's probably not a lot. A team must be consistent, willing to take a point at any cost. Then there's this stat:
As Jeff Paterson has pointed out, the point has a lot of meaning. You could say the Canucks have 5 wins within their last 10 games, but within that they have also surrendered 5 "loser points".
This is Gary Bettman's world of creating false hope with the almighty point when a game goes to OT or better yet, the nailbiting shootout.
If you have half your points going to either of those in the NHL, you'd better hope every other team is doing the same.
