The month of September is known to be the waiver wire fest. As teams round up their rosters ahead of their season debut, they make cuts that can, at time, cause a surprise.

Sixteen players on the waiver wire

The Canucks had already made their cuts, Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo had made their way onto the waiver wire, but they both cleared and are headed to Abbotsford

The list of sixteen players notably included the former Canucks' netminder Zach Sawchemko who's headed for Lake Erie, the Blue Jackets' AHL affiliates. Other then that, nobody notable found his way to the waiver wire as the Philadelphia Flyers, the Ottawa Senators, the Seattle Kraken and the New York Rangers were all active:

On Waivers today:

PHI: Attard, Belpedio, Gardner
OTT: Hodgson, Reinhardt, Rees, Pilon, Matinpalo, Guenette, Davies
SEA: Henman, Brouillard
CBJ: Sawchenko
NYR: Leschyshyn, Harpur, Belzile

It goes without saying that the Canucks will be active on waivers again, will they be putting a claim for one of these players? That seems rather unlikely given the Canucks already have a pretty loaded roster.

Canucks to waive other players before the start of the season?

As the season nears, the Canucks will have to make certain calls and they may have to send players down the waiver wire. Here are the players who could be sent down and require waivers before heading to Abbotsford. Kiefer Sherwood, Nils Hoglander, Nils Aman, Derek Forbort and Noah Juulsen.

The Canucks still have 4 pre-season games on their calendar and they'll have to get their roster down to 23 men before the season starts.
