Former Vancouver Canucks broadcaster and goaltender John Garrett will be back in the booth this weekend for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

At the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, after two decades serving as the team's colour commentator on Sportsnet Pacific, John Garrett announced his retirement from broadcasting.
Garrett was beloved by Vancouver Canucks fans, not only for his years in the broadcast booth, but also as their goaltender for the final three seasons of his NHL career and starting Saturday, you'll be able to hear him as a colour commentator once again.

John Garrett returns to the booth on Saturday night

On Thursday morning, Sportsnet's public relations team announced the broadcasting assignments for the four first round series involving Canadian fans and there was a welcome sight as John Garrett was named as a colour commentator for one of the matchups.
Garrett will be joining up with Harnarayan Singh in the broadcasting booth for the Winnipeg Jets-St. Louis Blues first round series, while Scott Oake will be the rinkside reporter.
"Harnarayan Singh and John Garrett team up in the booth, while Scott Oake reports rinkside." Sportsnet PR said.

Fans will be able to hear Garrett back in the booth starting with Game 1 on Saturday night at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg starting at 3 pm PT on Sportsnet and CBC.
Game 2 of the Jets-Blues series in Winnipeg is set for Monday, April 21st at 4:30 pm PT before the first round matchup shifts to St. Louis for Game 3 and 4 on April 24th and 27th, respectively.

Garrett, 73, began his broadcasting journey back in 1986-87 when he was hired to work as a colour commentator for Hockey Night in Canada and a little over a decade later left to join Sportsnet where he worked as an in-studio analyst and was in the booth.
During his career in the National Hockey League, Garrett appeared in 207 games, 56 of which came as a Vancouver Canuck where he had a 22-21-5 record with a 4.12 goals against average, an .864 save percentage and one shutout.
