Tragic accident takes former QMJHL's life at only 24 years old
Former QMJHL goaltender Creed Jones has tragically passed away at the age of 24, as confirmed by his former team.
Creed Jones played for three teams in the QMJHL during his junior career before playing college hockey at the University of Ottawa. Most of his time in the league was spent with the Gatineau Olympiques, where he played 64 games over three seasons. The Olympiques confirmed Jones' passing with a statement on their official X account.
It is with great sadness that the Gatineau Olympic organization learned of the death of one of our alumni, Creed Jones. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. 💔
Jones also appeared in 24 games with the Rimouski Oceanic and five games with the Saint John Sea Dogs throughout his QMJHL career. In total, he posted a record of 27-47-8 with two shutouts, both of which came with the Rimouski Oceanic in the 2019-20 season.
According to the official report, Jones tragically passed away due to a motorcycle accident. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Creed.
Fans were eager to express their condolences to Jones, his family, and his team. One supporter shared a picture of the young goaltender in action during a match against the Quebec Remparts.
