Man responsible for Johnny Gaudreau's passing crying in court: His blood alcohol level revealed
The hockey community was shattered into pieces when the lives of brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were taken in a tragic, irresponsible car accident.
Sean Higgins, accused of killing Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, broke down in court this morning as new details of the incident emerged. Facing two counts of vehicular homicide, Higgins allegedly struck and killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau while attempting to pass on the shoulder of the road.
Higgins, who had hoped to be released, saw those hopes crushed when investigators revealed that he admitted to drinking "five or six beers" before the crash on August 29th. His blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.87, well above the legal limit of 0.08, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The judge, citing "significant concerns" about releasing Higgins while the case is ongoing, denied bail and ordered him to remain in custody until October 15th. In court, Higgins reportedly broke into tears after the ruling, as reported by TMZ. He is scheduled for his next court appearance in October.
The details of these mortifying events have slowly been surfacing, and use it as a reminder that alcohol consumption and driving aren't meant to go together,
