Nashville Predators forward Zachary L'Heureux has been suspended 3 games by the NHL's Department of Player Safety after a dangerous slew foot on Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon.

The 21 year old agitator was given a match penalty in Tuesday's game where the Wild won 5-3, and Spurgeon was injured and is considered week-to-week.

The young forward from Montreal was drafted 27th overall in 2021 being compared to players like Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand.

In the NHL's breakdown of the suspension, the DOPS noted Spurgeon's history and that L'Heureux out him in a defenceless position.

The 3 game suspension is the 7th handed out in the league this season, and the first since Matt Rempe's recent 8 game suspension for boarding.

A history of discipline for Zachary L'Heureux

While this is the first suspension for L'Heureux at the NHL level, the young forward is no stranger to facing discipline.

In his time in the QMJHL, L'Heureux was suspended nine times, including a 10 game suspension for allegedly jabbing his stick at a teenage fan.

He was also suspended twice at the AHL level last season, and throughout the year amassed 197 penalty minutes in just 66 games.

In 33 games this season L'Heureux has chipped in 9 points and has 32 penalty minutes.

He likes to tow the line, and this may not be the last time we hear of him being suspended.
