NCAA hockey continues to grow in popularity and competitiveness, and Penn State is set to get even stronger shortly.
Known as a powerhouse in NCAA hockey, Penn State is expected to add significant size and fierceness to their roster. According to recent reports, the team has secured a commitment from 16-year-old Russian prodigy Alexander Karmanov.
Penn State has received a commitment from Russian 2008-born forward Alexander Carmanov.
Karmanov's commitment is particularly intriguing due to his sizehe stands at an imposing 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. Karmanov's physical presence on the ice could be a game-changer in a sport that increasingly values speed and skill. There are varying reports about his exact measurements, with some sources listing him as 6'11" and 251 pounds, while others claim he is 7'0" and 276 pounds. Regardless of the specifics, his stature alone makes him a standout player.
Because people cannot get enough of Alexander Karmanov, some skating clips via Instagram. Have not seen a 7'0 hockey player before but I'd guess this is decent skating for that height.
This season, Karmanov has demonstrated that his size can be a significant advantage, recording nine points across 18 games in three different competitions (two U16 and one U18). While it remains to be seen how his size will translate into success at the college level, his arrival is highly anticipated. Karmanov is expected to be widely covered when he debuts in North America, and his development will be closely watched by hockey enthusiasts and scouts alike.
For Penn State, this is a bold and intriguing move. If Karmanov's physical presence can be effectively integrated into the team's playing style, he could become a pivotal player and potentially make a significant impact in the NHL in the future.
