The name Alex Debrincat had been flying around in the rumors before the draft and this sage finally came through yesterday when the Sens and the Red Wings announced they had come to an agreement.

The Sens finally said yes to the following offer:

2024 1st Round Selection
2024 4th Round Selection
Dominik Kubalik
Donovan Sebrango

The Sens had acquired the scoring winger just a little over a year ago for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the BlackHawks. It was revealed today that the Islanders were also strongly involved in the DeBrincat derby. Part of their offer was even revealed, which got Sens' fans wondering.

From the information released, the Isles had a package built around one of the league's top 3rd line centerman Jean-Gabriel Pageau and the former 1st Rounder Oliver Whalstrom.

Pageau is one of the league's best shutdown forward and a consistent 40-point producer, Whalstrom is a youngster that has yet to reach his potential. The kind of player that could truly benefit from a change of scenery. An offer of this sort most likely included a high pick.

This is great news for the Canucks since the market for scoring wingers had been declining. Even though the Canucks have ended trade talks surrounding Brock Boeser, Conor Garland is still very much on the market and now that they've traded away Debrincat, they may be looking to add a capable top6 forward.
