TRADE ALERT | Canadiens, Penguins and Sharks pull off blockbuster deal: The Details are out
We were all waiting for it and the announcement has just been made. The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially acquired Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks.
Frank Seravalli detailed the trade and it's massive:
To Pittsburgh
Erik Karlsson (15% retention in SJ / $9.775M AAV x 4 years)
Dillon Hamaliuk
Rem Pitlick
2026 3rd Pick San Jose
To Montreal
Jeff Petry (25% retention in PIT / $4.625M AAV x 2 years)
Casey DeSmith
Nathan Légaré
2025 2nd Pick Pittsburgh
To San Jose
Mikael Granlund
Mike Hoffman
Jan Ruta
2025 1st Pick Pittsburgh
The Pens have shown their true colours and Dubas is giving it his best shot. Montreal rid themselves of Mike Hoffman's contract, but they'll definitely be flipping Jeff Petry and maybe Casey DeSmith. The Sharks acquired a 1st Round Pick, 15% of Karlsson's deal for the next 4 years and players to fill jerseys.
The Canucks just lost a possible suitor for Tyler Myers since the Sharks acquired nothing less then $12.25M in contracts.
