TRADE ALERT | Jeff Petry dealt to the Red Wings: To fill the void left by Filip Hronek
After being involved in the blockbuster deal for Erik Karlsson, Jeff Petry has been dealt from the Canadiens to the Red Wings.
The announcement just came through, Petry is headed to Detroit and Montreal retains 50% of his already diminished cap hit. Montreal receives a 4th Round Selection along with the 24-year-old, Gustav Lindstrom:
It seems like Steve Yzerman is patching holes after trading away Filip Hronek to the Canucks. Petry could be an excellent addition for the Wings while the wait for Axel Sandin-Pellikka to develop for the NHL.
Petry, 35, didn't perform up to the expectation last season, but he showed he could contribute to a team's success when he helped the Canadiens make it to the Stanley Cup finals a few years ago.
